The Super Bowl in New Jersey (yes, New Jersey) has come and gone without a hitch. The NFL made their money, New York got its accolades, and hopefully, New Jersey got some as well. MetLife Stadium looked great on TV, and we had the best seats in the house...in our living room watching on a 52" HDTV. Comfortable seating, no lines to the bathroom, and the non-Paleo grub was plentiful, delicious, and didn't break the bank.
The Grub:
The Game:
Oh. My. God. What a lousy showing by Denver. The Seahawks trounced on them mercilessly. Their defense was on them like flies to a rib roast. Final score was 43-8. I would have liked to have seen some sort of contest, but the Broncos looked like a bunch of dead ducks. Eli should wear both of his Super Bowl rings at their next family dinner.
The Half-Time Show:
Bruno Mars put on a great half-time show. I really hadn't heard of him before, though I've heard a number of his songs on the radio here and there. His songs are actually quite catchy, and he is a good entertainer. Some say that he is reminiscent of Michael Jackson; however, to me he seems more like Jackie Wilson...right down to his look, presence, and his dance moves. The Red Hot Chili Peppers made an appearance. Though they were okay, they didn't really add anything to Mars' show. The light show and fireworks display was amazing, and overall made me happy the event was held at the Meadowlands.
The Commercials:
This was the second-most disappointing aspect of the Super Bowl (the game itself takes first place for that). Some of them were okay, a few were quite memorable (the one with the puppy and the Clydesdale horses was my favorite, hands down), and the remainder were just kind of mediocre. Not a great showing by the advertisers, considering a 1-minute spot was $2M.
So that's about it. It was a good event all in all. The weather worked out well for those who attended (this was a major concern since it was being held in NJ in February) and wasn't hampered by snow or the elements. Glad it's over. My system is in a tailspin, and the Paleo plan is back en force tomorrow.
