What a productive weekend this has been! Friday night saw us at the Black Tie Tailgate in Philadelphia. When we attended the event for the first time last year, both of us really had a great time...from being dressed up, to the food and drinks, and enjoying the exhibits without waiting very long. I had gotten us tickets for this year's event as a Christmas gift for Al, and our friend Bob joined us along with his date. Bob had never done the Black Tie event before, but had always wanted to. It was a great evening.
We finally got the porch TV mounted on the wall in the porch...yay! We've been wanting to get that done since we bought the fireplace and TV for the room in November. We tried mounting the bracket ourselves, but we couldn't make the holes with the drill that we had (the porch is an extension to the building, and the sheet rock is mounted to what used to be the exterior wall). Tim, the carpenter, was able to get it done on Saturday morning. It looks great. Moreover, Al's thrilled that it's done.
The rest of the weekend was pretty low-key. Saturday night, we watched the original Steel Magnolias (Al had never seen the original!). Today, we had breakfast and hung out a bit, watching The Brian Boitano Project and The Property Brothers shows on HGTV. We headed out around noon and had lunch at Frank's Deli, and then took a walk to the Asbury Park boardwalk. There's some kind of project going on there, and a few blocks of the boardwalk from Convention Hall south was torn out. We walked back to Main Street where the car was parked. Al headed back home before the snow came in.
Once Al left, I ran over to the produce market and Wegman's, picking up stuff for Mexican Chicken Soup. Got the stock made and decided to actually make the soup tonight. Seems like a good week for soup since the temperatures will be in the 30s most of the week.
