Still Got The Cold

None of the stuff I wanted to get done last night got done; I crashed around 8pm and slept through the night.  The cold is still with me again today.  It was very tempting to call out today, but I jumped in a hot shower, took two Tylenol, and headed to the mines.  The day is moving slowly and hope that the afternoon goes quickly, We have a somewhat busy weekend ahead.  There's a fundraiser social tomorrow night in Belmar for the Q-Spot which my friend Susan is involved.  Sunday is Gay Pride is Asbury.  We might go for a bit and check it out before having dinner at Moonstruck to celebrate my 48th birthday. The plan for tonight is the gym, and take on the stuff that should have been done last night.  I'm hoping that the workout will help sweat this cold out.

Feelin' Blah...

Had a long day yesterday. Things started at 6AM with a cardio intervals workout.  The workout itself took about 30 minutes which got me home before 7 to get ready for the mines.  A group of us took what I guess was an early lunch to pay our respects to our co-worker, Tammy, whose father passed away from a long illness early Friday morning.  Fortunately, I brought lunch in and worked through which enabled me to get out on time to meet Dad in Union to head out to the Bronx to catch the Yankee game. We made excellent time, despite having gone the wrong way on the Deegan (we wound up going north instead of south like we were supposed to).  We parked ($35) and got inside around 6:15-ish and found that we wound up with seats in the bleachers .  We checked out the museum and each got a dog and a beverage (Dad a beer, me a Diet Pepsi).  The Mets smacked them...hard.  Not a fun game to watch.  Despite that, it was a nice time hanging with one of Dad's ...

Obama In Town!

He Who Does God's Work ( President Obama ) visited the area today.  He delivered a speech in Asbury in front of Convention Hall on the boardwalk.  I didn't attend since I had to work (besides, I'm not terribly fond of crowds) but I understand he had a nice turnout.  The NJ Obama haters were out in force on the internets shitting all over him.  Let's be honest, it's nothing more than sour grapes; they're throwing tantrums because they didn't get their way in November.  Oh well, they can deal with it.  We've had to deal with that horrible George W. Bush for 8...long...years . The one positive thing that came from the Sandy disaster is that it's possible to put aside politics.  This is the one positive prop I can give our governor.  His ability to work with the President during the ordeal is refreshing.  If he's re-elected this fall, I hope we see more of that.

Memorial Day Weeked 2013 In Review

It felt more like mid-fall this weekend; the weather was unseasonably chilly for most of the weekend.  However, we made the best of it. Did the gym on Saturday morning and then did some chores around the house before Al arrived.  We basically hung around a bit.  I made 4-dozen meatballs later; they came out great!  We later took a walk on the newly-built boardwalk in Belmar, which despite the weather, felt great.  They did a great job on it and it's beautiful.  There are no pavilions or other buildings, but there are concession trailers - they don't look bad.  Got home and later had dinner at the Blue Swan diner (I kept it Paleo - Al had a BLT with egg salad). Sunday's weather was much improved but still on the cool side for this time of year.  I went for a run in the morning and then had breakfast (scrambled eggs with chorizo - my "go to" Paleo breakfast).  We hung around a bit and watched some HGTV (that's an addictive channel) and late...
