Ahh yes, it's certainly been awhile since gracing the halls of DJ John Land. Since the completion of the porch (last post, February, 2014), we in the Northeast experienced a rather cold (putting it mildly) winter. Though long and stubborn, we got through it okay. Now that we're into Spring, it's fair to say that we're getting one, and not going directly from winter to the heat of summer.
To give us a break in the action, Al and I took a cruise in April on the Celebrity Reflection. In a nutshell, it was a week of rest, relaxation, and sightseeing. It sailed from Miami, and it stopped in San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Martin. We toured St. Thomas and St. Martin, and ventured on our own a bit in Old San Juan. The weather was perfect the entire time: high 70s/low 80s, and sunny. We met some really nice folks as our dining mates. Both couples were from Canada. The older couple from Toronto, the younger from Montreal; it was great sharing our evening meals with them.
The entire experience of the cruise was wonderful. You really didn't want for anything. The crew was very friendly, considering that they worked a 7-day stretch for at least 12 hours each day. The food was quite good, especially the buffets, where there were offerings of many styles of cuisines: American, Italian, Indian (yay!), Mexican, etc. The amenities onboard made it very comfortable. The ship had a nice fitness center and running track which enabled me to train for the week.
Easter was nice. We joined our friends Lee and Mark at a spot in Somers Point, NJ (The Crab Trap), and enjoyed a nice meal there. The return to the reality of work wasn't bad; it's funny how the novelty of returning after being away a week wears off quickly. Things are busy at the office and the time passes quickly.
I'm going to close for now because it is late (damn insomnia...2nd time this week) and I need to get some shut-eye, or I'll be a nasty mo-fo when I get up in 2.5 hours...
